Methodology

The methodology secretariat is responsible for applying the progressive consensus methodology at the Y20 Summit. This process involves gradually building consensus through several steps, ensuring that all voices and perspectives are considered.

Our final communication is being prepared in three main stages: Pre-Summit, Middle Term and Summit. Each step is crucial for consolidating the proposals and forming a solid and inclusive consensus among participants. For more details, you can access the secretariat's complete methodological report attached, which details the activities and results of each of these phases.

Y20 Communique

During the Y20 Summit, delegations from G20 countries and invited countries worked together to express the greatest desires and recommendations of global youth for the world.

This Communique, which will be delivered to the world's top leaders, is the result of all the efforts made by these delegations to formulate and negotiate the document using the progressive consensus methodology, where countries gradually arrive at formulations that are mutually agreed upon by all. Although challenging, this methodology has allowed for the full diversity of cultural, social and political perspectives to be respected and included.

We invite everyone to read the result of all this joint work by these global youth who, together, yearn for a world of more opportunities for all people, where all cultures are celebrated and all voices matter.

FAQ

Y20 is an abbreviation for Youth20 and represents the Official G20 Youth Engagement Group. Y20 is recognized as one of the forums with the highest level of international influence and one of the most important in the world on the topic of youth.
As the world moves towards an increasingly interconnected and complex future, the role of youth becomes vital in the formulation of public policies and social transformation. Y20 emerged in 2010 in this scenario, providing young leaders from around the world with the opportunity to participate as protagonists in the processes of reflection on global issues, share experiences and knowledge, argue, negotiate and build proposals, solutions and consensus for the discussions and decisions of the G20.
G20 means “Group of Twenty”. The G20 brings together the countries with the largest economies in the world. Member States meet annually to discuss economic, political and social initiatives. The group defines itself as the main forum for international economic cooperation (agreement established by leaders at the Pittsburgh Summit in September 2009).
The Brazilian Y20 Presidency proposes reflection around 5 priority themes: Combating Hunger, Poverty and Inequality; Climate Change, Energy Transition and Sustainable Development; Reform of the Global Governance System; Inclusion and Diversity; and Innovation and the Future of the World of Work.
The Communiqué prepared by the Y20 Summit will be presented to the G20 Leaders' Summit, taking youth demands and proposals to the center of the global debate.
