Youth building a just world and a sustainable planet
In the context of the months leading up to the final G20 event in the Brazilian presidency, Youth20 intends to bring the five themes to debate throughout Brazil, with in-person and virtual plenary sessions.
August 10th - 17th
Rio de janeiro Brazil
The Y20 Summit will take place between August 10 and 17, 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, symbolically during the week of International Youth Day, and is the culmination of an extensive agenda of meetings and events throughout the year. In the context of this impact during the months leading up to the final G20 event under the Brazilian presidency, Youth20 aims to bring the five themes for debate across Brazil, with in-person and virtual plenary sessions, to ensure a process with strong participation from Brazilian youth and young immigrants living in Brazil.
The Y20 Summit will be attended by 145 delegates from G20 member countries, gathered in Rio de Janeiro in August 2024, along with other young people and special guests, authorities, youth policy makers, youth organizations, international organizations and other supporters of the Engagement Group process and its priority issues. At the event, the delegations were able to negotiate and synthesize their perspectives on the 5 thematic working groups and, in this way, outline the perspective of Youth for this important economic, social and political forum.
Parallel to the negotiations of the 'Communiqué' (official declaration) to be presented at the G20 Leaders' Summit, the Y20 Summit will feature training, discussion and cultural exchange activities aimed at Delegations and also open to the public through prior coordination with organizations and young people interested parties. Young people supported by public policies and projects in Rio de Janeiro and young people living in other parts of Brazil will also participate.
The objective of this dialogue with young people is effective participation within the G20, with the preparation of a declaration with the demands and priorities identified during the participatory process in the previous months and during the Summit. This declaration will reflect the priority agenda of Youth, will be widely disseminated throughout society and formally presented to the Heads of State or Government.

Pre-registration
During the Y20 Summit, concomitantly with the Communiqué negotiation process between the Delegations, the program will feature integration and training activities between international participants and Brazilian youth, in line with efforts to expand civil society participation and recognize the diversity of experiences about what it means to be young in our country, fundamental guidelines for Y20 Brazil 2024 and its commitment to the democratization of processes and opportunities for international advocacy for Brazil's youth.
In this sense and as part of the strategies to guarantee plural representation, Pre-Registration works as a tool to express interest for participation in activities open to the public during the Y20 Summit program. In addition to filling in the required personal information, it is necessary to indicate the activities of interest during Pre-Registration. Confirmation of registration is linked to factors such as the capacity of spaces, and communication with pre-registered people will continue via the email indicated in Sympla.
Pre-registration is free and there will be simultaneous translation (Portuguese, Spanish and English) in the interaction spaces between Brazilian youth and international participants. Throughout the program, Y20 Official Delegations, special guests, government authorities, youth public policy managers, youth organizations, international organizations, experts and partners in the Group process will be present alongside Brazilian youth. of Engagement and its central areas of action: Fighting hunger, poverty and inequality; Climate change, energy transition and sustainable development; Reform of the global governance system; Inclusion and diversity; Innovation and the future of the world of work.
Rio de Janeiro, the wonderful city
Rio de Janeiro will be the main stage for Y20 discussions. Known worldwide as the Marvelous City, Rio combines natural beauty with an effervescent and vibrant culture.
The history of Rio de Janeiro is intertwined with the formation of Brazil itself. The city, which was once the capital, served as a stage for key moments in Brazilian history, making it a true cultural melting pot
Rio culture is a mix of rhythms, colors and celebrations. From samba to funk, including the samba school parade during Carnival, the Greatest Show on Earth, the city breathes music and dance.
Beauty is also present on street corners, on beaches, in street art and in striking monuments. Christ the Redeemer, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, Sugarloaf Mountain and Copacabana Beach are some of the most iconic landmarks of the city and the world.
The capital of Rio de Janeiro is more than a city, it is a state of mind, a celebration of diversity and a source of inspiration. This rich history makes Rio a Brazilian treasure, where natural beauty meets cultural exuberance, forming a mosaic that captivates and enchants the world.
