Inclusion and Diversity

The track focuses on analyzing and promoting a more equitable and inclusive global society, with an emphasis on education as a fundamental mechanism for ensuring equal access and overcoming barriers of discrimination and inequality. The debate explores the relevance of policies that ensure fair opportunities in both the education sector and the labor market, highlighting the need for gender equality and the expansion of female representation in leadership and decision-making positions.

In addition, the track addresses strategies for the protection and empowerment of diverse communities, including people with disabilities, minorities and immigrants, while also ensuring adequate access to health and well-being services. The central purpose is to develop proposals and recommendations that contribute to the construction of a more just and inclusive society, based on evidence and informed policy practices.

Daniela Lima Costa

Brazilian delegate at Y20 on the track

“The Inclusion and Diversity track is a cornerstone of all Youth 20 discussions, highlighting that sustainable economic development must be inclusive and equitable for future generations. To achieve genuine inclusion and diversity in political, economic, and social spheres, it is crucial to address the root causes of structural and persistent inequalities. In this sense, education is a powerful tool in promoting equal access, tackling discrimination, and creating fair opportunities in work and education. Central to this effort is gender equality, which involves combating gender violence and increasing female representation in leadership roles. Social inclusion policies must empower diverse communities, including people with disabilities and minorities, and protect the rights of immigrants and vulnerable populations. Prioritizing health and well-being, with a focus on reproductive and mental health, is essential to ensure comprehensive healthcare access for all. By fostering intersectionality in all approaches, advocating for decolonized and accessible education, combating global radicalism and discrimination, and enhancing social supports, the Y20 is dedicated to supporting and encouraging governments in creating inclusive and supportive environments where everyone can thrive. This track also explores vital themes such as including economic policies, civic youth engagement, digital empowerment, mental health, and the rights of migrants and refugees.”

Data Panel - Y20 Tracks

Throughout the Y20 Brazil 2024 process, the importance of diagnosing global challenges and developing evidence-based public policies were some of our guiding principles. From this perspective, we built, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a systematization of indicators related to the 5 priority axes of discussion of Y20 in the context of the Brazilian Presidency of the G20.
