Fight Hunger, Poverty and Inequality

The track discusses urgent humanitarian issues related to hunger, poverty and inequality, focusing on the need to establish sustainable food systems and school feeding programs to ensure food security.

The functions of education and training as essential tools for eradicating poverty and reducing inequalities will be analyzed, highlighting the importance of promoting a more equitable global society. The discussion covers important recommendations such as the creation of equal work and education opportunities and the integration of vulnerable communities in policies to combat hunger and poverty.

Furthermore, it addresses the need for robust financing to ensure that these transformations have effective impact, especially in developing countries.

Philippe Diogo Alves da Silva

Head of the Brazilian Y20 delegation

“We young people today, during this process, have an important task, to think about and propose transformations that will impact the lives of millions of people. We are advancing our proposals and building the policy we want for our Track and our final document. In it, we address several issues related to the promotion of social, food and economic well-being in different countries. The need to combat poverty, promote school feeding programs and ensure equitable access to health and education, highlighting the importance of evidence-based, sustainable and inclusive policies. Together, we include the taxation of products that are harmful to health and also the taxation of the super rich, aiming to contribute to the redistribution of resources and the reduction of inequalities, such as investment in family farming, accessibility to essential services, combating gender inequality, professional and technological training programs, and the inclusion of young people in decision-making and environmental protection.”

Data Panel - Y20 Tracks

Throughout the Y20 Brazil 2024 process, the importance of diagnosing global challenges and developing evidence-based public policies were some of our guiding principles. From this perspective, we built, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a systematization of indicators related to the 5 priority axes of discussion of Y20 in the context of the Brazilian Presidency of the G20.
